The Order of the Arrow is the National Honor Society of Boy Scouts of America, and is the Brotherhood of Cheerful Service. New members are inducted each year. The induction process begins with a Unit Election of qualified Scouts, and those elected by their fellow Scouts must complete a weekend-long Ordeal to become Arrowmen. We encourage each Boy Scout Troop and Varsity Team to schedule a Unit Election between December 12 and February 15. Detailed information about qualifications and the election process can be found in the Scoutmaster's Guide to Unit Elections. You can download this document by clicking the link below. Click here for the Scoutmaster’s Guide to Unit Elections. Note that you must have at least 50% of your Troop’s registered active Scouts present to hold an election. If less than 50% of your registered active Scouts are present at the election, then the election may not take place. Please plan accordingly. Your OA Troop Representative and his Scoutmaster or the delegate of the Scoutmaster should be present for the election. Your Scoutmaster or his/her delegate should participate with the OA Elections Team when counting of ballots. Please plan accordingly. All unit elections are to be scheduled with the Quanasita Chapter and conducted using the Arrowmen election teams provided and trained by the Chapter. Units may not conduct their own OA election. Following the election Quanasita Chapter will turn in the election results to the Lodge Unit Elections Chairman at the next Lodge meeting following the elections. Unit elections will be held between December 12 and March 1. The Chapter must turn in election results to the Lodge Unit Elections Chairman the first week of March 2012. Please be understanding that requesting an OA election team for a specific date is not a guarantee that we will have a team available for you that night. We need units to be flexible in scheduling OA elections. OA Election teams are made up of junior and high school students. Many of these young men do not yet drive and are dependent on parents or Scout leaders to transport them to elections. Further, many of these young men are very active in Boy Scouts and also active in other extracurricular activities. There may be dates when we will not be able to field an OA election team. Though we will try to accommodate your election date requests, we may need to schedule your election on another night when an election team is available. To schedule your troop's election, please fill out the form below.
