TONIGHT'S TOPIC: Meet the Unit Commissioner with Del-Mi District Commissioner John Harkey

• Most packs and troops should have a unit commissioner they are looking to have 1 for every 3 units there are 92 units and 31 commissioners with more being added.
• Unit commissioner’s job is to be the go between from you to the district
• They will:
  • Help with basic Scouting questions
  • Improving your unit strength
  • Helping to rebuild a unit
  • Role is to observe and make suggestions based on their observations
  • To help with challenges when key people leave
  • Assist with rechartering

TONIGHT'S TOPIC: Pinewood Derby Discussion

• Plan for event 3 months prior
• Have Santa give out at pack meeting in December
• Give the siblings candy or something so that they don’t feel left out
• Most have a committee assigned to pinewood derby
• Each den supplies one person to help with pinewood derby gets everybody trained so that following year there isn’t a big learning curve on track setup and so on
• Awards
  • Trophies
  • Ribbons
  • Plaques
• Down play winners so that everybody wins
• Have outside judges for best car so on and so forth
• Top 3 can’t win in any other categories spreads the winning around
• Inspection table
• Impound cars after inspection
• Have a carb day a week before race

• Help parents help there boys make a car
